Part 2 (Long Turn / Cue Card)
Describe an interesting discussion you had as part of your work or studies. You should say:
– What the subject of the discussion was.
– Who you discussed the subject with.
– What opinions were expressed.
– And explain why you found the discussion interesting.
One interesting discussion I had was during a group project at university. The topic was about whether social media has a positive or negative impact on young people. I discussed this with three of my classmates. We all had different opinions, which made it really interesting. One of my friends thought social media is mostly negative because it wastes time and affects mental health. Another person said it’s positive because it helps people stay connected and learn new things. I personally believed it depends on how people use it — it can be good or bad. We talked about real examples and even shared our own experiences with social media. I found this discussion interesting because it made me see the issue from different angles. We didn’t argue; instead, we listened to each other and respected everyone’s ideas. It also helped me improve my speaking and critical thinking skills. In the end, we agreed that social media needs to be used carefully and in moderation. Overall, it was a great experience because I learned a lot from others.
Part 3 (Discussion)
Why is it good to discuss problems with other people?
It’s good because others can give us advice, different ideas, and emotional support, which helps us solve problems better.
