Part 2 (Discussion) Topic: Relaxation
Part 1 – Introduction & Interview (Topic: Neighbours)
Do you know many people who live near you?
Yes, I know a few of my neighbours quite well. We sometimes chat when we meet in the hallway or outside.
How often do you see them?
I see them almost every day, especially in the mornings or evenings when we come home from work.
Do you think it’s important to have good neighbours?
Yes, definitely. Good neighbours can help each other out and make you feel safer and more comfortable where you live.
What kinds of problems can people have with their neighbours?
Sometimes people argue about noise, parking spaces, or pets. These small issues can cause a lot of tension if they’re not handled well.
Part 2 – Cue Card
Describe a place where you like to go to relax. You should say:
- where this place is
- what you do there
- who you go there with
- and explain why you like this place.
One place I love to go to relax is a small park near my house. It’s about a ten-minute walk away, so it’s really convenient for me to go there whenever I feel stressed or just need some fresh air.
When I’m there, I usually find a quiet bench under a big tree where I can read a book or listen to music. Sometimes, I just enjoy watching people walking their dogs or kids playing around. I don’t always go with someone — most of the time I prefer to go alone to clear my mind, but occasionally I go with my best friend if we want to chat and enjoy nature together.
I really like this park because it’s peaceful and full of greenery. It helps me forget my worries and feel calm, especially after a busy day. The sound of birds and the fresh breeze make it feel like a little escape from the noise of the city. It’s a simple place, but spending even half an hour there always makes me feel more relaxed and refreshed.
Part 3 (Discussion) Topic: Relaxation
Why is it important for people to relax?
Because relaxing helps reduce stress and keeps people healthy, both physically and mentally. Without rest, people can become tired and less productive.
What are some ways people relax in your country?
People like going to parks, spending time with family, watching TV, or having a cup of tea with friends. Many also enjoy doing hobbies like gardening.
Do people have more free time than in the past?
I think it depends. Some people feel busier now because of work and technology, but others can find free time more easily thanks to modern conveniences.
